Color Swatches

I think like many other students in our class, I was actually really excited about this project. Throughout the semester I have learned a lot and I was never really comfortable with InDesign before but I am getting the hang of it. This project was very interesting because I think it showed me how much I've grown throughout the year. When we got assigned this project all I could think about was Christmas colors! So, I picked this picture of a decorated Christmas tree. I decided to use red, green, and the wallpaper color of beige.

Color Swatches

After picking out this picture I got started on my color swatches. Like I said before, I picked red, green, and beige. For the green, I started with the original color with its natural tint of 100%. Then going to the left, the middle swatch, was 80% and the lightest green (all the way to the left) is 50%. After the green's I moved onto beige. Started at the right side again, I have the natural tint of 100%. The middlebox was changed to 73% and finally, the left box was changed to 37%. Lastly, I finished up with the reds. Similarly, I started with 100% all the way to the right. Then the middle, I changed to a tint of 75% and the left was at 50%.

The Name Plates

I was a little nervous to make my nameplates because it looked intimidating. Once I started playing around with InDesign I realized that it was actually pretty easy. I stayed within the color swatches used but, I did use black for the green because after testing out black ended up looking the best. I used a rounded edge because I felt like it made them look softer and more inviting. I really like the font of my name, I think it looks very professional.

In Conclusion

This project really surprised me! I did not expect to enjoy it as much as I did. I took a lot of extra time this week to play around with InDesign and I learned a lot of new techniques that I am excited to use in my last projects.
